How to cancel ChatGPT Plus

ChatGPT Plus is cancelled in ChatGPT's billing settings if you paid on the web, or through the App Store / Google Play if you subscribed in the app.

Checked in October 2026 against ChatGPT Plus’s own help pages. ChatGPT Plus typically costs about €20 a month (€240 a year).

Cancel on the web

Sign in on chatgpt.com and open your account menu → Settings.
Go to Billing (on older layouts: Account → Manage).
Under Cancel plan, select Cancel and confirm.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the ChatGPT Plus app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Tap ChatGPT Plus, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
Tap ChatGPT Plus, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

What happens after you cancel

Plus features stay until the end of the current billing period.

Refunds

Cancelling doesn't refund past charges; whether one is possible depends on the purchase and where you live.

Watch out for

Cancel at least 24 hours before the next billing date to avoid the next charge.
Deleting your ChatGPT account doesn't cancel a subscription bought through Apple — cancel that first.
Subscribed on more than one platform? Each store bills separately; cancel every one.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track ChatGPT Plus in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
