How to cancel Medium

Medium membership is cancelled in Settings → Membership and payment on the website. Joined in the app? Cancel with Apple or Google.

Checked in October 2026 against Medium’s own help pages. Medium typically costs about €5 a month (€60 a year).

Cancel on the web

Sign in on medium.com and open your profile picture → Settings.
In Membership and payment, select Cancel your membership.
No cancel option? You're probably signed in to a different account than the one that pays — sign in with the membership's email.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the Medium app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Tap Medium, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
Tap Medium, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

What happens after you cancel

You keep member access until the next billing date.

Refunds

No refund or credit for the remaining days of the billing period.

Watch out for

Uninstalling the app or deleting your Medium account doesn't stop the charges.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track Medium in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
