How to cancel Monarch Money

Monarch bought directly is cancelled in Billing Settings → Manage subscription, by the household admin. Google Play and App Store subscriptions are cancelled in the store.

Cancel on the web

As the household admin open Billing Settings and select Manage subscription.
Choose cancel and confirm.
Google Play: cancel from the Play Store's subscriptions list. App Store: your Apple subscriptions.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the Monarch Money app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Tap Monarch Money, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
Tap Monarch Money, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

What happens after you cancel

You keep access for the time left on your subscription after cancelling.

Refunds

Monarch has a money-back guarantee article for the remaining time, requested through its site. It can't refund App Store subscriptions — Apple does.

Watch out for

A non-admin member has to ask the admin to cancel.
No Monarch under your Google Play subscriptions? You may be on a family plan — the family manager cancels.
Cancelling doesn't delete your account. Cancel first, then delete it from Security settings; deleting the app doesn't cancel anything.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track Monarch Money in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
