How to cancel The Washington Post

Checked in October 2026 against The Washington Post’s own help pages. The Washington Post typically costs about €12 a month (€144 a year).

Cancel on the web

  1. Digital: go to your My Post profile and cancel on the My Post subscription page.
  2. An add-on: cancel it under the Subscription & Billing tab in My Post — your Core or Premium digital subscription stays active.
  3. Print home delivery, same-day mail or WP Weekly: My Post → Manage subscription → the cancel link.
  4. Bought through Apple, Amazon, Google Play or Google News? Cancel in that store's billing settings.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the The Washington Post app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

  1. Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap The Washington Post, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

  1. Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  3. Tap The Washington Post, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

Billed by someone else — Amazon and Google News? Cancel in that account, or ask them: The Washington Post can’t end a subscription it doesn’t bill.

What happens after you cancel

Billing stops the following cycle and digital access continues for the rest of the current billing period.

Watch out for

  • Only want a break from print? Use the “Temporarily stop newspaper delivery” option instead.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track The Washington Post in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
