How to cancel YNAB
YNAB bought directly is cancelled on the web in Account Settings with Cancel your subscription — not in the mobile app. Apple and Google subscriptions are cancelled in the store.
Checked in October 2026 against YNAB’s own help pages. YNAB typically costs about €99 a year.
Cancel on the web
- Log in on the web (a mobile browser works too) and open Account Settings.
- Click Cancel your subscription and confirm — billing then stops.
- Or email help@ynab.com from the address on your account and they'll cancel it.
Subscribed in the app?
If you signed up inside the YNAB app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.
On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap YNAB, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.
Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.
On Android (billed by Google Play)
- Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap YNAB, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.
Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.
What happens after you cancel
You keep access until the end of the current billing cycle and can resume later.
Refunds
Monthly fees aren't refunded. If you cancel an annual plan before it expires and ask for your account to be deleted, you get a prorated refund; without deletion there's none. Google Play sign-ups must request a refund within 48 hours.
Watch out for
- Billing settings aren't in the mobile app — use app.ynab.com in a browser.
- Free trial: if you signed up directly, there's nothing to cancel (no payment info collected) — unless you subscribed during the trial.
- Apple and Google subscriptions are managed by those stores.
Make sure the charge really stops
Track YNAB in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
