How to cancel 1Password

1Password is cancelled from Billing in your 1Password.com account. All plans are prepaid, so there's no refund, and vaults turn read-only once the paid period ends.

Checked in October 2026 against 1Password’s own help pages. 1Password typically costs about €2.99 a month (€35.88 a year).

Cancel on the web

Sign in at 1Password.com and open Billing in the sidebar.
Scroll down and select Cancel Subscription.
Confirm — the page then shows the date your plan ends.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the 1Password app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Tap 1Password, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
Tap 1Password, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

What happens after you cancel

The account stays active until the end of the billing period, then freezes: you can still sign in and export your data, but can't add or edit items until you resubscribe.

Refunds

1Password doesn't refund past charges or unused time — plans are prepaid.

Watch out for

Export your vaults (as 1PUX or CSV) before or right after cancelling, in case you need the data while the account is frozen.
On a Family or Business account, only the organizer, owner or someone with the Manage Billing permission sees the Billing page at all.
Bought through the App Store or Google Play? Cancel there — 1Password's own Billing page doesn't cover it.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track 1Password in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
