How to cancel Amazon Prime

Prime is ended from the Prime membership page, behind several confirmation screens offering you to stay. Whether you get money back depends on whether anyone used Prime since the last charge.

Checked in October 2026 against Amazon Prime’s own help pages. Amazon Prime typically costs about €8.99 a month (€107.88 a year).

Cancel on the web

Sign in on Amazon and open Account → Prime membership.
Select Manage, then Update, cancel and more.
Choose End membership (worded “Cancel membership – forgo benefits” on some sites).
Keep declining the offers on the next screens until Amazon confirms the end date.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the Amazon Prime app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Tap Amazon Prime, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
Tap Amazon Prime, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

Billed by someone else — phone plans and other companies that include Prime? Cancel in that account, or ask them: Amazon Prime can’t end a subscription it doesn’t bill.

What happens after you cancel

Amazon shows the date your benefits end, and any refund due, before you confirm. A free trial is ended with “End trial and benefits” instead.

Refunds

If nobody on the account has used Prime since the last charge, the whole fee comes back. If only delivery benefits were used, a partial refund may apply; using Prime Video, Music or Gaming usually means no refund. Cancelling within 3 business days of a charge refunds it, minus the value of benefits used.

Watch out for

There are several “are you sure?” screens; the cancellation isn't done until you see the confirmation.
Signed up through Google Play or another company (a phone plan, say)? Cancel there.
Ending a monthly membership means you can only join again after the month you paid for.

Cheaper than cancelling?

Amazon Household lets two adults share one Prime — no need for two memberships.
Amazon Prime Amazon Household covers up to 2 people at no extra cost — two adults in one household share one Prime membership.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track Amazon Prime in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
