How to cancel YouTube Premium

YouTube Premium is cancelled on the Paid memberships page — unless you joined in the iPhone app, in which case Apple bills you.

Checked in October 2026 against YouTube Premium’s own help pages. YouTube Premium typically costs about €12.99 a month (€155.88 a year).

Cancel on the web

Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships, signed in to the account that pays.
Open Manage membership next to Premium.
Select Deactivate (or Cancel), then Continue to cancel.
Pick a reason and confirm.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the YouTube Premium app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Tap YouTube Premium, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
Tap YouTube Premium, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

What happens after you cancel

Premium keeps working until the end of the billing period; the same page then shows it as ending.

Refunds

Cancelling doesn't refund the current period. For an immediate cancellation with a refund, contact YouTube support.

Watch out for

Joined in the YouTube iPhone app? Cancel in your Apple subscriptions.
Paying for both YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium? Premium already includes Music — check for a duplicate.

Cheaper than cancelling?

Monthly plans can be paused instead of cancelled; annual ones can't.
Premium Lite (where offered) drops the price if you only want fewer ads.
YouTube Premium Family covers up to 6 people for about €23.99 a month — only for people who live together.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track YouTube Premium in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
