How to cancel Chess.com Premium

Chess.com Premium is cancelled in Settings → All Settings → Membership on the website. First-time card and Android subscribers get a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Checked in October 2026 against Chess.com Premium’s own help pages. Chess.com Premium typically costs about €4.99 a month (€59.88 a year).

Cancel on the web

Click the cogwheel (Settings) at the bottom left of any Chess.com page → All Settings.
Choose Membership, then Cancel Premium Membership.
Bought through Apple or Google Play? Cancel in that store. Paid with PayPal? Also cancel it in PayPal.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the Chess.com Premium app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Tap Chess.com Premium, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
Tap Chess.com Premium, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

Billed by someone else — PayPal? Cancel in that account, or ask them: Chess.com Premium can’t end a subscription it doesn’t bill.

What happens after you cancel

Premium lasts until the paid period ends, then the account goes back to Basic.

Refunds

First-time credit card and Android subscriptions have a 30-day money-back guarantee: type “I want a refund” in the Support Messenger. Apple purchases are refunded by Apple only.

Watch out for

Cancelling doesn't refund the current period by itself.
Accounts banned for breaking the rules aren't refunded.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track Chess.com Premium in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
