How to cancel Google One

Google One is cancelled in its Settings on the web or in the app. Before you do, make sure you'll fit in the free 15 GB — or Gmail stops receiving mail.

Checked in October 2026 against Google One’s own help pages. Google One typically costs about €1.99 a month (€23.88 a year).

Cancel on the web

  1. Open one.google.com and go to Settings (in the Android app: Menu → Settings).
  2. Select Cancel membership and confirm.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the Google One app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

  1. Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap Google One, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

  1. Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  3. Tap Google One, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

What happens after you cancel

The extra storage stays until the end of the billing cycle. Then you — and anyone you shared the plan with — drop to the free 15 GB.

Refunds

Cancelled plans aren't refunded.

Watch out for

  • Over 15 GB after cancelling, Gmail stops sending and receiving (mail to you bounces), Drive stops syncing and Photos stops backing up.
  • Over the limit for two years or more, Google may delete your content.
  • Shared with family? They lose the extra storage too.

Cheaper than cancelling?

  • Downgrade to a smaller plan instead of cancelling.
  • One plan can be shared with up to five others at no extra cost.
  • Google One Family sharing covers up to 6 people at no extra cost — everyone shares the one storage allowance.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track Google One in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
