How to cancel Grammarly

Checked in October 2026 against Grammarly’s own help pages. Grammarly typically costs about €12 a month (€144 a year).

Cancel on the web

  1. Sign in at account.grammarly.com and open the Account tab.
  2. Go to Subscription and select Cancel Subscription at the bottom of the page.
  3. Confirm, pick a reason, and confirm again.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the Grammarly app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

  1. Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap Grammarly, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

  1. Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  3. Tap Grammarly, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

What happens after you cancel

Auto-renewal turns off, but paid features keep working for the rest of the current billing period.

Refunds

Grammarly's policy is that past charges aren't refunded; a payment made in error can be raised with support, who review it case by case. App Store or Google Play purchases are refunded only by Apple or Google, never by Grammarly directly.

Watch out for

  • Cancelling a free trial before it ends switches the account straight to free, with no charge.
  • On a Business plan, only the admin can cancel it — team members have to ask them.
  • Bought through the App Store or Google Play? Grammarly's own Cancel Subscription button won't reach it.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track Grammarly in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
