How to cancel Jira
Jira is cancelled by a billing admin at admin.atlassian.com/billing → Subscriptions → Manage → Deactivate. Moving a paid plan to Free takes effect in the next billing period.
Checked in October 2026 against Jira’s own help pages. Jira typically costs about €8.60 a month (€103.20 a year).
Cancel on the web
- As a billing admin open admin.atlassian.com/billing and go to Subscriptions.
- Find the subscription, select Manage, then Deactivate.
- To stay on Jira, downgrade to the Free plan instead — it applies from the next billing period.
Open admin.atlassian.com/billing ↗
What happens after you cancel
A mid-cycle deactivation is scheduled for the end of the billing cycle, and a paid subscription is deactivated 15 days after the period ends. Data is kept for 60 days after a paid deactivation (15 days for free) — reactivate within that time to restore it.
Refunds
No refund for the remaining days of the billing cycle when you downgrade.
Watch out for
- Free plans have user limits (10 users for Jira, 3 agents for Jira Service Management) — reduce users first.
- You can't switch to Free on an annual billing cycle — contact support.
- Undoing a scheduled cancellation needs Atlassian support.
Make sure the charge really stops
Track Jira in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
