How to cancel Mullvad

Mullvad no longer sells recurring subscriptions: existing ones keep working for at least 6 months, then must be cancelled or expire. Pay for time with a one-time payment instead.

Checked in October 2026 against Mullvad’s own help pages. Mullvad typically costs about €5 a month (€60 a year).

Cancel on the web

Check how much time is left on the Account Status page after logging in on mullvad.net.
If you still have a recurring subscription, cancel it with its payment provider — e.g. a PayPal subscription — before it's discontinued.
Switch to a one-time payment for the time you want.

What happens after you cancel

Cancelling a PayPal subscription doesn't remove your remaining time; it just won't renew automatically.

Refunds

14-day money-back guarantee from the payment date (30 days if you paid before that rule changed). Cash and crypto payments aren't covered. Request it by emailing support with your account number and, for cards, the payment token from your statement.

Watch out for

Once an existing subscription is cancelled or expires, it can't be renewed.
To delete the account, email support@mullvadvpn.net.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track Mullvad in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
