How to cancel Namecheap domain
A Namecheap domain stops renewing when you switch off Auto-Renewal for it in your Domain List. Refunds are only possible within 5 days of registration.
Checked in October 2026 against Namecheap domain’s own help pages. Namecheap domain typically costs about €11.28 a year.
Cancel on the web
- Sign in to Namecheap and open your Domain List.
- Click Manage next to the domain, or open its caret, and toggle Auto-Renewal off.
- Renew manually before expiry if you change your mind.
What happens after you cancel
With auto-renewal off, the domain isn't renewed automatically and expires — the same applies to hosting and other services on it.
Refunds
Domain registrations and renewals are non-refundable unless the policy says so. A new registration may be refunded at Namecheap's discretion if cancelled for a valid reason within 5 days (120 hours); most renewals have a similar 5-day window. Premium Domains can't be refunded.
Watch out for
- Cancelling hosting doesn't cancel the domain registration.
- Don't want the domain? Turn off auto-renewal and let it expire, or move it to another Namecheap user with Change Ownership.
Make sure the charge really stops
