How to cancel OneDrive

A paid OneDrive storage plan comes with a Microsoft 365 Basic or Personal subscription: cancel it at account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 and back up your files first.

Checked in October 2026 against OneDrive’s own help pages. OneDrive typically costs about €2 a month (€24 a year).

Cancel on the web

Sign in with the Microsoft account that bought the subscription and open account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365.
Select Cancel subscription (it may read Upgrade or Cancel).
Pick “I don't want my subscription” at the bottom and follow the prompts.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the OneDrive app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Tap OneDrive, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
Tap OneDrive, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

What happens after you cancel

You keep the benefits until the end of the current billing period. Then your storage falls back to 5 GB of cloud storage shared across OneDrive and Outlook.com attachments; over that limit you can't upload or sync new files.

Refunds

Cancel first to check refund eligibility for a subscription bought from Microsoft.

Watch out for

Microsoft's pages disagree on how long over-limit OneDrive files are kept before they may be deleted (6 or 12 months) — back up before cancelling.
Only “Turn on recurring billing” showing? The plan is already set to expire and won't renew.
Bought through Apple, Google Play or a retailer? Cancel with the seller.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track OneDrive in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
