How to cancel Planet Fitness
Planet Fitness is cancelled online in the member portal, in person at your home club, or by a letter to your home club — ahead of the next billing date, and ahead of the annual fee if you want to avoid it.

Cancel on the web
- Sign in to your account in the member portal on planetfitness.com and cancel there, if your club offers it.
- Or go to your home club in person and ask to cancel.
- Or mail a written request to your home club; sending it tracked gives you proof of the date it arrived.

What happens after you cancel
Billing stops once the cancellation is processed — it can take up to 7 days for billing changes to take effect, so a payment due within that week may still go out.
Watch out for
- Cancelling a commitment membership before the commitment ends can cost a buyout fee; a No Commitment membership can be cancelled at any time without one.
- To avoid the annual fee, the club must receive your request well before the annual fee date — at least 8 days before, by Planet Fitness's FAQ.
- Clubs are franchises and some policies vary by location and state; your membership agreement has the final word.
Make sure the charge really stops
Track Planet Fitness in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
