How to cancel Proton Unlimited

Proton Unlimited is cancelled at account.proton.me under Settings → Subscription. Make room first: the free plans have much less storage.

Checked in October 2026 against Proton Unlimited’s own help pages. Proton Unlimited typically costs about €12.99 a month (€155.88 a year).

Cancel on the web

Sign in at account.proton.me and open any Proton service.
Settings → All settings → Subscription, scroll to the cancellation option and click Continue.
Click Cancel subscription to confirm.

Subscribed in the app?

If you signed up inside the Proton Unlimited app on your phone, Apple or Google bills you, and only they can cancel it.

On an iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Tap Proton Unlimited, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Not listed there? Apple doesn’t bill you for it — use the steps above. If it’s listed under Expired, it’s already cancelled.

On Android (billed by Google Play)

Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
Tap Proton Unlimited, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

Deleting the app on either phone does not cancel anything.

What happens after you cancel

The plan stays active until the end of the billing period and doesn't renew. Over the Free limits — e.g. more than 1 GB in Mail — you can't send or receive new email until you free up space.

Refunds

Cancelled within 30 days of the first purchase, the unused part is refunded pro rata; later refunds are at Proton's discretion. Only for purchases made directly with Proton.

Watch out for

Bought in the iPhone or Android app? Cancel in that store.
Moving to Free ends any bonus storage you've built up.

Cheaper than cancelling?

Switch to a smaller paid plan instead — unused time becomes account credit.
Proton Unlimited Proton Family covers up to 6 people for about €287.88 a year.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track Proton Unlimited in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
