How to cancel Shopify

Checked in October 2026 against Shopify’s own help pages. Shopify typically costs about €36 a month (€432 a year).

Cancel on the web

  1. Cancel any apps that bill you directly, outside Shopify, and check your Shopify-managed domains.
  2. As the store owner, open the Shopify admin → Settings → Plan.
  3. Choose to deactivate the store, give a reason, enter your password and confirm.

Open Shopify Help: Pause or deactivate your store ↗

What happens after you cancel

The store stays open until the end of the current billing cycle, then the subscription ends. All apps are uninstalled and any pending usage or transaction fees are billed. Store data is kept for 2 years if you reopen.

Refunds

Shopify subscription charges are non-refundable.

Watch out for

  • Shopify-managed domains can renew during the wind-down — deal with them before deactivating.
  • Account credits remain for only 60 days.
  • Shopify Plus stores cancel through their Merchant Success Specialist or Plus Support.

Cheaper than cancelling?

  • Need a break? The Pause and Build plan costs less and keeps the storefront up.

Make sure the charge really stops

Track Shopify in Cancely and mark it cancelled: the day before it would have renewed, you get a reminder to check your statement — so a cancellation that didn’t take doesn’t cost you another month.
